The DrBen.Net Online Store, so far is only known as such - DrBen.Net Online Store, which operates using the following Domain Names :
Several Lines of Products were considered to be offered in direct sales through DrBen.Net Online Store. From Tea Varieties from China, Classical Chinese Furniture from Xi'An, Shaanxi and later Zhejiang province, to popular and high quality Cloisonne Wares from Beijing, Red Lacquer Boxes and others.
Several problems arose for a number of the chosen products. For instance, the safe shipment of Furniture, and the guarantee of product quality proved a problem for selling furniture in E-Commerce. Furthermore, the costs of transport/shipment is high for each sold item, which combined with the 3 month, no information, return guarantee under International E-Commerce Law easily leads to spiraling costs.
Other products, such as the cloisonne ware proved to be excellent in quality, however low in supply. There was no guarantee to have a steady supply of the product our customers wanted.
In the End the choice was made for the Sale of Books and DVD from our Online Store for Four important reasons. These were :
1) The Books and DVD's offered through our Online Store are directly related to subjects described in the DrBen.Net publications via The China Report. They are just most easy to promote via the Internet and The China Report publications.
2) With an Office in Beijing DrBen.Net can be directly in contact with Publishers and Producers of most products offered from our Online Store, thereby guaranteeing low acquisition price and lower shipment costs due to direct shipping from China.
3) Books and DVD's are generally small and light and therefor easy to ship and handle.
4) Return Policies do not lead to unexpected high costs. Insurance fees per shipped item are low.
So far, the DrBen.Net Online Store offers only a limited supply of Products produced in China, mainly consisting of Souvenir and Documentary DVD's and Books with English Language and/or Subtitling.
However, Direct Sales and E-Commerce are an important way for websites to create revenue. So far DrBen.Net Online Store only made modest sales due to both a lack of focus on sales and presentation, as well as a lack of visitors to a website still under construction.
With Visitors numbers nearly doubled over the year 2008, near 500.000 page views and growing interest in the Online Store Inventory, starting 2009 AD more could possibly be done in the Field of E-Commerce.
Therefor in 2009, DrBen.Net will be looking to expand its commercial activities and E-Commerce. For this purpose a number of actions will be taken:
1) DrBen.Net Online Store will be overhauled
2) Prices in the Store must be Reviewed
3) New Products may be Introduced and the product Line expanded.

Netherlands through a Graduate Student Internship/Project featuring Miss Rose Wang from Jilin, PRC who is graduating from the Hanze Hogeschool - HEBO Branch in The Hague, The Netherlands.
In The Future, DrBen.Net could restart its Online Galleries project and attempt commercial activities based on the Online Galleries. For instance, E-Cards, even when very low in price could bring considerable revenue if used in high volume.
In addition, international sales of our photo-prints could lead to a new line of E-Commerce products based on the Images taken by DrBen.Net photographers.
Last but not Least - with a solid domain name as Asiaphoto.net to host its Photo Galleries under, DrBen.Net could invite other Photographers who can supply good images of various locations, events and culture in Asia to cooperate with DrBen.Net in the worldwide e-commerce sales of their Photos and Prints.
At this Time we find ourselves unable to predict the revenue which can be derived from such an activity, nor the costs of developing various ambitions. For these reasons the Third branch of DrBen.Net activities remains the least developed of all three.
